On September 13, 2025, our community came together for one of our favorite traditions: Movie in the Park. This year’s event welcomed more than 600 neighbours and local businesses, marking the largest gathering at Symons Valley Park to date. It was an evening filled with joy and a profound sense of shared purpose as we celebrated how far we have come together.
While the screening of How to Train Your Dragon (Live Action) delighted families, the evening was a chance to reflect on remarkable progress, to recognize the generosity of our partners, and to reaffirm our collective vision for a community park that will serve our community!
A big event with big announcements:
1. SVLAS proudly secured a $500,000 grant from the City of Calgary’s Council Community Fund to launch Phase 1 construction.
2. Plus, a $300,000 donation from the Kincora Residents Association in support of the project.
We were also honoured to welcome MLA Court Ellingson, Ward 2 Councillor Jennifer Wyness, and Mayor Jyoti Gondek, whose commitment to stronger and healthier communities helped make this happen.
This is why we want Symons Valley Park
It was great to see how much families enjoyed an atmosphere alive with food trucks, children’s activities, local business showcases, and live entertainment before the movie began.
Movie in the Park reflects the true effect of community spirit. Together, we’re not merely building a park. We’re creating a lasting place of belonging, recreation, and connection.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to every attendee, volunteer, and supporter. Your presence and contributions are the foundation of Symons Valley Park’s future.
We’re optimistic for what’s coming: Shovel ready by spring 2026! Help make this happen, donate today!
