Why Symons Valley Park is needed

Listed as a top priority in north Calgary, Symons Valley Park is a long-overdue investment in public spaces and amenities for Kincora, Nolan Hill, Sage Hill and Sherwood residents (Source: Place Matters: A North Calgary Project).

These four communities are home to 30,000 people living in single-family homes and higher density townhomes, rowhouses and condo buildings. For residents without access to private yards, Symons Valley Park will offer a shared space to play, connect, and unwind — right in the neighbourhood.

Walkable green space

Access to nature and play just steps from home.

Recreation amenities

Space for physical activity, fresh air, and mental
well-being.

Community connection

Meet, gather, and socialize with friends and neighbours.

Property value boost

Nearby parks are proven to raise home values and community appeal.

GETTING TO CONSTRUCTION

6 steps to building a community
capital project

Symons Valley Park will be developed in phases, with construction beginning once sufficient capital funds are secured for each project step.

Before the project can break ground, there are a number of activities that must still take place. The project is currently in Step 3: Project and Funding Strategy. ABOUT THE SYMONS VALLEY LEISURE & AMENITIES SOCIETY

100% volunteer-powered

The Symons Valley Leisure & Amenities Society (SVLAS) is responsible for the planning, building, and eventual operating and programming of Symons Valley Park.

The SVLAS was established in 2017 to lead and manage the development of a City-owned land parcel that has been designated as a shared community amenity space for Kincora, Nolan Hill, Sage Hill and Sherwood communities.
